>> For those of you who have not been exposed to David Greenberger's Duplex Planet, now is our chance to see/read it online. Brilliant stuff. Here's a quote from David's introduction to the new site :
"In 1979 I took a job as activities director at a nursing home in Boston. I had just completed a degree in fine arts as a painter. On the day that I first met the residents of the nursing home, I abandoned painting. That is to say, I discarded the brushes and canvas, not the underlying desire to see something in the world around me and then communicate it to others. In this unexpected setting I found my medium. I wanted others to know these people as I did."
>> Applause to Don Pendleton for saying what others have been afraid to. And with good humor. Thanks, Don. From the front page of his site, Elephont :
"Pendleton exemplifies what the midwest is all about. His gritty artwork tells the tale of a young artist who isn't afraid to take work where he can find it and just put himself out there. You can find his visceral imagery on the walls of galleries East, West, North and South. Along with his presence in fine art halls everywhere, look for his artwork on everything from Top 40 album covers to custom shower curtains. When asked about future endeavors, Pendleton replies, 'I'm not one to turn down an offer. I really do just want to put myself out there.' "
Of course we recognize sarcasm... duh. Impressive resumé, Don.

>> Got the note below from Lewman about the Graffiti Guerilla. Check Rob Abeyta's photo here.
"The Graffiti Guerrilla was featured in a big article in the LA reader about a year ago. It was interesting. The guy lost his young son, and took out his greif by going on public service crusade to clean up the streets. He also rousts homeless people and 'herds' them with his car and theatens to call the cops if they give him gruff. A lot of gangster kids want to kick his ass, or worse."
>> Not too sure people know about this site yet. We got the link from Ruby Ropa. Heated Wheel, the art of Neil Blender.
>> For a while there we were using the middle name of "Not Sure What We Are Anymore." Perhaps this email we recently received will help us define ourselves... maybe?
Dear Sir,
My name is ChenHua, and I'm writing on behalf of the China-Lutong mechanical company. Located in the south east of China, we specialize in hydraulic heads for the VE distributor pump.
We can supply standard, good quality units at a very competitive price. In addition, the following models have been produced by us,but there is no stock at present. Minimum order is 48pcs a model.
We also can make to order for other models as required.
We use precision forging technology to create our products and surface treat them using an imported shot-blasting machine. The constant grinding process guarantees identical clearance in each plunger.
Because we have been in the field of diesel fuel injection systems for quite a few years, we are acquainted with many domestic manufacturers of, and sales agents for, parts such as injector nozzles, plungers, delivery valves and so on.
If you are interested in our products, please contact me. Thank you for your interest in our company.

>> In San Francisco at the 69A Gallery on February 21st, the Panorama Project opens. Curated by Jordin Isip and Rodger Stevens, the idea was to invite over 100 artists to create their work on 5"x7" piece of masonite -- the only prerequisite being that they hold to a horizon line 1.5" from the bottom. At the show, the 136 pieces will be joined together to create one, almost 80 foot long, horizon which travels through the 136 different styles of work. Mel Bend contributed this one.
