I loved my cat, Smokey Joe. I definitely liked him more than most people I've ever met. I'll miss you, Joe. Rest in peace.

Have you ever spent years looking for a song you heard once and when you finally think you've found it... it turns out not to be the one you heard? Yeah. That happened to me. I thought this particular song was by The Fall. It sounded like Mark E. Smith, so, back in the day I bought every album by The Fall looking for it. In the lyrics it sounds as though he's singing "there's a ghost in my house" — turns out the song "There's a Ghost in My House" by The Fall was not the song I heard. It wasnt even close. I had managed to aquire a good collection of The Fall, but I was back at square one in terms of finding this song. That is, until I used Limewire. But the only thing I did thenwas rediscover the same wrong song.
Damn it.

The 2nd 7"x7" below, "Mishima," just sold to an old skateboard zine-building aquaintance of mine, Christian Kline. You may remember him from the fresh Poweredge Mag. Thanks for giving the piece a good home, Christian.

Just finished three 7" x 7" paintings on board. So I have three small paintings for sale. Here they are...

They are all up in the Bend Store now. Thanks.

"
Beautiful Losers" hits the OC next week. I'm not too sure they know what they are in for at the Orange Country Museum of Art in Newport Beach, but they'll find out come Feb5th at the opening. The Girl Art Dump will be showing simultaneously at the Orange Lounge in the South Coast Plaza mall. So far it seems they've done little to promote the "You Are Here" show, so it'll be mostly breast and lip augmented walk-ins pushing strollers checking it out. Oh well, those people need art too... we're no snobs.

As part of "You Are Here" the Art Dump will be debuting a new girlskateboards.com website on February 5th. The site will be online for the duration of the "You Are Here" and "Beautiful Losers" shows, then come down to be replaced by a more mainstream, or consumer-friendly, version.

Is it just me, or does driving on LA freeways seem like tumbling, bouncing off rocks and swallowing lots of water in a rapid current river? Now that I have time to think of it, the river would be way more fun. I'm not too sure how many more years of this I have in me.

I finished up this illustration for The Skate Mag yesterday. While I'm at it, here are a couple more from months past; 1, 2. Thank you Kevin, Ako, Grant, Swift and Mike for letting my keep my line chops going. If you have not checked out their project yet, you must, it's probably the most consistently beautiful skateboard magazine ever created. Dude... I'm not saying that because I have one little drawing in there each month. Seriously, man.

My friend, Greg Barbera, talks about his balls.

Have you ever had to call a credit card company to tell them why you are late with a payment? I felt like I was talking to my dad, only without all the yelling.

Beautiful Losers opens up at Orange County Museum of Art the first weekend of Feb. Why are they sending my work back to me? Ego blow.

Apparently the
Art Dump is supposed to set up the "You Are Here" show at the Orange Lounge, ah, tomorrow. HAHAHAHA! We are impervious to deadlines! If the staff there were nervous when they met us, imagine how they will feel on Wednesday... who sets up a show a full week before it opens? I guess that's how they do things down in the OC.

Ruby is collecting recipes for a project. If yours is picked you get a box of goodies from Ruby Republic. Go check it out.

Hardly seems appropriate to write about balls and recipes in the same post.

Anyone want to buy a painting?

There's an interview with yours truly (I hate that expression) over at online skate mag, Concussion.com. Just click on the little drawing on the left under "Newest Content."

Thanks to Bryce Kanights at Skate Daily for making Bend the site of the week.

And thanks to Ryan Schierling for the compilation CD and reminding me of the Faint. Check his site, Aural Fixation.

Here's a shot of the moon my old friend, Rodger Bridges, took in the first nights of '05. Beautiful.

Excuse me for saying this, but, it's raining like a mutherfucker out here. Angry rain. Lots of it. The LA "river" has topped off and it's running at about 200 miles per hours towards the Pacific. Yes, it's spilling over in places. Lots of pissed off people in their cars this morning. They must not have been listening to NPR. 44,000 people dead in Indonesia. That's the size of my home town. Say a prayer, people.

"Be Good, Smile Pretty." Watch this documentary, then imagine every daughter and son who grew up (and are growing up) without a father or mother as a result of war.

On the reading list; "Ordinary Wolves," by Seth Kantner.

Praise the lord, "Schwarzenegger Announces Call for Entries for California Poet Laureate." Good thing the California Arts Council website is up and running to accept them.

The December tentacles are slowly releasing their grip. I hope you all have lept free of them and are having a great set of holi-days. Much love to you. —Andy

All caught up in the tentacles of December.

The Low Gallery in SF (run by Fecal's John Trippe) is opening a new show by an artist named Mars in January. It's entitled "Quantum Reality." Honestly, I don't know a thing about Mars, but these new works are really impressive. I especially like the Moebius influence.

Speaking of the Fecal, scroll down their main page to see a bunch of photos from Barry McGee's big show in Melbourne. Also impressive.

A couple of interesting links sent in by FOB, Marvin Stanwyk. Thanks, Marvin.

Two new paintings (mixed media) on plywood. Much bigger than previous ones. And yeah, it was fun going bigger, thanks for asking.

Ever have to write a Christmas, or, Holiday Letter? If not, I don't recommend it. Maybe get someone to do it for you. In fact, yeah, that's a good idea. Hire a stranger to write your family Holiday Letter. There's a good chance it'll be more interesting.

In honor of the traditional Holiday Letter, the Bend Store is offering 15% off on EVERYTHING in there until January 5th, 2005. Everything. Doesn't matter where you live either... we're world wide, baby.

Hmmm.

12/7/04
Here's another visit to the kitchen. Some of these paintings are now complete and will be made into board graphics before the holidays hit. Look for them in Wallride9 next Feb. The originals will be in the Bend Store sometime soon as well (not the wooden Girl dolls — those are going to an Art Dump show at Antisocial in March '05).

Last night started with 10 Brothers Quay films, went to painting until 1am, then 3 straight episodes of the Chapelle Show ("Is Wayne Brady gonna have to choke a bitch?"). Man, that was a good night.

Any of you ever see that Fox Fuel Signature ID featuring my drawerings and scribbles and such? BrandNew School did the animation work on the piece. Apparently it won a DBA Silver award (scroll down to Fox Fuel). Not even sure what that is, so it makes sense I found out on accident.

11/30/04
This is a job I have going through Modern Postcard at the moment.

Hey, gotta stay entertained somehow.

Rain and wind in the usually sunny SoCal. Been staying busy in the kitchen (3.3meg gif).
