REST IN PEACE, JIMBO "HOLESHOT" HOLMAN. SOLITAIRE IN 2006 (12/6) Long time, I know. I had to put the bike aside this year to concentrate on family and work.... but that doesn't mean I stopped following MX. Quite the contrary. I have all the nationals on DVD. And now we start the SX season which bings me to one of my favorite projects of '05 (another thing my lack of seat time allowed me to do); the bike graphics for Ryan Clark's Team Solitaire which debuted in Toronto this past weekend. Here's a quick look at the design files. I'll take photos of the bike at Anaheim 1 in January. Thanks go out to Ryan Clark for asking me to help in the first place. Thanks, Ryan! And congrats to Ryan and Buckelew for their 13th and 8th in the main. Good work fellas, not a bad days work. SKATERCROSS II (6/20) Ladies and gentleman, the man behind Skaterade... Salman Agah: ![]() SKATERCROSS (5/12) Got an email from Caballero today. He's been practicing for the Hangtown opener... celeb crossover race, that is. ![]() I have to skip it this year for lack of saddle time. Looking at this shot of Steve at a San Jose SX track a few minutes from his house (bastard) makes me want to ride. I-5MX this Sunday & next Thursday. WAITING (5/11) May name hasn't shown up on the Mammoth MX registration lists yet. I still have my fingers crossed as the Sr. Jr. class hasn't reached 3 divisions yet (as some of the other classes have). A friend sent me these shots of the legendary, Wade Speyer, on his MX bike. I've ridden with Wade a couple times and can honestly say he's pretty fast for a skaterboarder... heh, heh. ![]() Lakai has been flowing Solitaire rider, Ryan Clark, shoes every now and again. Here's his latest pair, hand-made by Clarkstar himself for the golf course. Super glue and a privateers budget will get you places. BTW, a big congrats to Ryan for his 9th place finish in Vegas. Way to go, RC, See you at Hangtown. ![]() MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN (5/2) I sent my entry in for the Senior Junior (?) class in the famous Mammoth Mountain MX race this June. I'll find out in a few days if I made it in time. Hope so. I've been pretty much off the bike since I-5MX was cancelled in early Feb. That was a couple races before Jimbo's passing. It's been tough to get motivated, but I've decided to make I-5MX on May 22nd my first race back with the OTHG. The goal is to get into riding condition before Mammoth in mid June. Did I hear you laugh? Here's a picture of Chip Morton, an old acquaintance of mine from back in the late 80s era of skateboarding... ![]() I ran into Chip over on MotoTalk a few weeks ago. Good to "see" you again, Mr. Morton. Catch you at Cahuilla some time this year. VISIT THE MX PROBLEM ARCHIVES All words/images ©2005 Bend Press and Andy Jenkins All Rights Reserved |
