Living, Part II.
Stopped at a light and to my left is a large white sedan. It’s real hot out. The windows are down. A.M. radio on fairly loud. In the passenger seat is a 7 year-old girl. A man drives facing straight ahead, motionless. In the back seat is a 3 year-old boy in a car seat, he is a mirror of the man. The girl is talking aloud to herself, asking a series of mundane questions to no one in particular;
“Why is this window rolled halfway down? What makes heat? Who is that on the radio? How does a radio work?” etc., etc., etc.
She is alive.
